My favourite artist: Jan Svankmajer

I'm not sure about if I can chose just one favourite artist, but one artist that in the last times I loved so much is  called Jan Svankmajer.

He's a czech videomaker artist, and he works with the technique of stop motion: this consist in make a composition based in a sequence of different photos of the same object or objects linked, the photos together create the movement of the video.



We can define him as a surrealist artist, their stories have a style very fantastic, and he haves and esthetic very unique.

Sometimes he uses the clay to make the characters of theirs stories, and he gives form them while the video go playing.





My favorite piece of art of Svankmajer is "Darkness light darkness (1989)", in this artwork one person starts to construct self with clay, is recorded in a room and with the pass of the video the protagonist almost can't stay there because is so huge to the space, the film conclude with the man completely locked and without possibilities of move.

I think this artist influence me in the interest of make audiovisual works. I also like make animated videos with photos, and create stories in this way I believe transmit a poetic that can identify me.
